Ruffle Bum

My mom bought Olivia this adorable underwear when I was about 6 months pregnant, and although it's a bit large on her, I couldn't resist trying it out after I saw pictures of my niece Quin in her ruffle bum underwear. Thanks to my SIL Erin (check out her amazing blog when you have the chance, she takes the cutest photos!) for inspiring me to take some pics and for teaching me how to enlarge photos in my blog!

Is there anything cuter than baby feet?!?

Mom, stop taking my picture! I'm so sleepy...

Okay, if you won't let me sleep then I'll just go ahead and eat my finger.

On a totally separate note, Doug definitely gets the Dad of the year award... I developed a horrible case of mastitis this past weekend (I won't go into any gross details, but I just want to know why no one tells you about these sorts of things before you have a baby? I guess that they don't want to scare you!). Anyhoo, he has really been wonderful, taking care of both me and Olivia. She's lucky to have such a wonderful daddy, and I am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband! Olivia also nicely blessed me with 5.5 hours of continuous sleep last night, sleeping from midnight until 5:30am! Fingers crossed that this is her new sleep pattern - it felt so amazing to sleep for that long :)

This is Olivia's very favorite naptime position.

This Little Lady...

In the past 24 hours, miss Olivia:

- Spit up 4 times (once straight down my shirt, and another time all over our bed!). And we're talking a full meal's worth. I think we might need to check her into Over Eaters Anonymous.
- Projectile pooped onto our carpet. (Note to self: rectal thermometer + carpet = bad idea. I'll spare you the gory details).
- Peed twice on her changing table.
- Refused to sleep for 8 hours straight.

It's a good thing that babies are so darn cute!!!

Hiccups!

One Week

Well, we made it through our first week as a family of three! As I'm sure any new mom will agree, the first week is definitely an adjustment period. We're getting used to sleeping in shifts (max three hours at a time) and living like vampires since Liv is up all night and sleeps most of the day. We're starting to get the whole feeding thing down, which is making things much easier! Olivia had another doctor's appointment today and her jaundice is clearing up, so I'm certainly relieved about that :).

The thing that has amazed me in this past week is just how indescribably much I love my daughter. It is a love like I have never known, and every time I look at her I just melt. She is a total sweetheart, and loves to snuggle with us. We pretty much spend our days staring at her, ooohing and aaahing at how adorable she is and wondering about the person that she's going to grow to be. I feel so blessed that Olivia came into our lives.

Bath Time!

Thought Bubble Time

Alright readers, in the comment section fill in what you think Livvy is dreaming about...

For me (Dougo), I think she is dreaming of her next feeding. Or it could be a nightmare about the blood draw that she had this afternoon.

In other news, Olivia has a tiny case of Jaundice...but is doing okay and the doc is not worried (no photosynthesis lamps necessary, just some natural breast feeding is prescribed)

I'm Three (Days)!

Today was our first full day at home, and I must say that it's so nice to be back from the hospital. Miss Olivia is settling nicely into her new home, and we couldn't be more in love with her. I basically sit and stare at her all day long :). She's on a typical newborn schedule (sleeps all day and then is up all night), so we're all adjusting to a new way of life.

Our happy little family.

We were lucky enough to have both sets of grandparents with us for the weekend after her birth. Here's Olivia and I with her two grandma's.

Hello world!

Still Here!

So we had to do two doses of cervidal (cervix softener), with each requiring 12 hours so 24 hours later we are no starting the pitocin which now starts enducing the labor.

Andrea is doing great for being up for 24 hours straight with contractions occurring every 2 to 5 minutes. For me, I imagine this is what its like to be on a flight to Australia or some place where the flight takes forever. However, I can get up and walk across the street to Izzy's deli (been four times already) and get my New York deli on. Anyways!....

Stand by for delivery news!

Farmers Market

Surprisingly, Torrance has an amazing farmers market on Saturday mornings. I took a field trip over there this morning and couldn't resist taking a few photos... maybe this will actually inspire me to cook!

Check out the heirloom tomatoes - my favorite!

The peaches are for Doug (they're one of his favorite things in the whole world)
I've never seen this vegetable before in my life - it looks somewhat like a cucumber but it has a crazy texture on it. Weird.

Only a few days to go!

We can't wait to meet our little girl :)
