Our vacation to Punta Mita was seriously awesome... perfect weather, great pools & beaches, good food, and awesome company. What more could you ask for? I'm definitely having withdrawals back here in cold Seattle!

Olivia did great - she's such a seasoned traveler at this point! She loved all of the pool time.






The infinity pool on the beach. Rough life, I know.


There was a fountain in the courtyard of the villa that she thought was pretty cool. It took her a few days to warm up to it (she's suddenly developed strange fears, including the vacuum, the hairdryer, and dogs), but once she did she was all over it!


The last time that we took her to the beach she wasn't too excited about it. But now she loves it! Part of that love is the realization that she can shove handfuls of sand and rocks into her mouth. Yum.


She actually got super-brave and went into the ocean. Pictures of that to come!

While we were there, we went down to the beach for some Perry family portraits. Here's the whole fam!

Cousins! These two adore each other. It's so funny to watch them interact-they're too little to know what to do together, so it generally quickly turns to toy and binkie stealing.

P.S. Here's a little video of O swimming in the pool... it's not the best (she's near a meltdown), but her dolphin kick is pretty entertaining!

Punta Mita Vacation

We had the BEST vacation in Punta Mita, Mexico! I'm still getting pictures together to post, but here's one of my favorites...



I might be just a tad biased, but isn't she the cutest thing ever?!?

9 Months!

Olivia's 9 month stats:
18.5 pounds
28.5 inches
She's gone from a little rolly-poly to long and lean!
No teeth yet.
And so incredibly close to crawling! She's become a master at rolling all over the place in the meantime.

A few current favorite activities:

Hanging out with her bee,


Eating toothbrushes,


Jumping like a maniac,


And, of course,
drooling like a rockstar.

We're headed to Mexico tomorrow for a little vacay with the Perry fam, so excited for warm weather & pool time!!!

Good thing she finds it entertaining since we spend an inappropriate amount of time in there. It continues to amaze me that one little person can generate so much dirty stuff.

Wheee!

I don't typically write much on this blog, we've made it more about photos and small details about life with Olivia. But I have been reading a blog which chronicles the life of Layla Grace, a toddler battling neuroblastoma, and feel compelled to share it with you all. Sadly, she has been unable to beat this cancer, and is growing weaker by the day. When you have a few minutes, check out their blog and read their story. I guarantee that it will serve as a reminder of how precious every moment, no matter how mundane, is with those who we love.

This entry from Layla's mom really spoke to me:
"Towards the end of a pregnancy, a mother will wake up to go to the bathroom every few hours. I think this is the body’s way of preparing you for a newborn and the sleepless nights that come along with it. Layla now spends most of her days sleeping. 30-45 minutes after she wakes up, she is ready to lay down and sleep again. Is this God’s way of preparing me for all the quiet time that is coming soon? The house is quiet. I am able to go through the motions of laundry, dishes, cooking and picking up without interruptions. But I WANT interruptions. I WANT Layla to be under my feet asking for cookies. I WANT to hear her playing with her toys. I WANT to take 45 minutes to unload the dishwasher because she keeps trying to help. For every time I uttered the words “I just can’t get anything done with these kids under my feet all day” I am eternally regretful. The days that I looked forward to naptime so I could get a grocery list made, or finally fold all the piles of laundry…I regret those days too. If I could do it all again, I’d enjoy EVERY SINGLE WAKING MOMENT I had with her. I would never wish for her to sit still or take a nap or go to bed early. I would never look forward to the days when she could sit through an entire episode of Dora silently. I would treasure every second with her."

Took O to the aquarium with some of her baby buddies and she loved it!




She also had a great time at coffee with her new buddy, Beckett. She loves playing with other babies (although she's still in the poke them in the eye/ fingers in the nose/ hair pulling stage so I really have to watch her!)
