Los Roques + Aruba = 2 Weeks Vacation of All Time

Andrea, Kevin, Whit and I are off to Pez Raton Lodge, Los Roques, Venezuela for a week long fishing vacation. Bonefish, Tarpon, and maybe some Permit are in the forecast. 4 days of guided fishing...

Here are some google images I found of the island and flats system we will be fishing:

The scenery ain't bad either....

Casting in the wind...
After our fishing is up, we will take off to Aruba for Keith and Katies wedding on 08/08/08. Figured since we were coming all this way for a wedding we should stop by Los Roques for a little F&R&R!

The Budos Band @ The Getty Summer Concert Series

Last night we went to see The Budos Band, who were performing at The Getty Summer Concert Series. Great friends, beautiful setting, awesome music.

Joe and Paige picnicking on the grass before the show.
This is what Paige does when you want to take her picture.

Dan and Doug get their dance on.
The view from the top of the Getty (with the ususal LA fog rolling in).
These kids were so adorable eating their ice cream!

Meeting Parker

I had a wonderful time visiting my friends Courtney and Ryan (aka Budge) and their adorable baby boy Parker. Parker is now close to six weeks, and he is just the cutest thing ever! We had a great time and took lots of adorable pictures of him...

Thanks for a wonderful week, Haedrich family! I had so much fun with you :).

Employment!

I am very happy to announce that I found a teaching job! I will be the "literacy teacher" at an elementary school in Paramount, where I will teach Reading/Language Arts to 5th graders in the morning and English Language Development two groups (1st-3rd graders and 4th-6th graders) in the afternoon. I'm very excited about this opportunity, and can't wait to start setting up my classroom :)!

Lazy Dog

Looks like Ranger found himself a new favorite place to nap...

Lesson learned: Don't leave the comforter on the ground!

Washington Week

Since Doug had last week off from work (and I am unemployed) we took advantage of the free time and headed up to Washington for a week of fun! We spent the first few days out at the Perry family cabin at Lake Wenatchee...

Doug checking out the view from the dock.
A beautiful sunset behind the glacier.
The next morning, we awoke to a perfectly glassy lake and a beautiful sunrise.
Hiking up "Dirty Face". (Confession: the altitude got to me and I didn't make it to the top! A big thanks to Chris for heading down the mountain with me :).

Doug and Wayne at the top of Dirty Face, overlooking the lake.
The funniest part about the cabin is that the Perry family has had it since the boys were young, and haven't been back there in a looong time. We made some pretty funny discoveries that were straight out of the 80's, including the "skurfer," on of the first wake boards created. Awesome.

We headed back to Seattle for the remainder of the week. And of course, we had to hit up some Mariners games.
Yeah Diamond Club!

Of course, Doug found time to ride a dirtbike during the week! His friend DJ has a track in his backyard.

Jaci and I hung out in the Rhino while the boys rode.

4th of July! After BBQing at the house, we took the boat out to Lake Union for the fireworks show.
